DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 0144Z July 02, 2024

SMOKE:
Alaska/Northern Canada...
Large wildfires throughout Alaska and Northern Canada continued producing
moderate to thick smoke which moved east and southeast from central
Alaska through Quebec. A large area of light density smoke extended from
the northern U.S. to the polar regions, and from the Bering Sea across
Canada to Greenland.

California…
One fire in central California was releasing moderate density smoke
which was moving south and east, and a second fire near the Mexican
border was producing light smoke which was moving to the east.

Gulf of Mexico/Central America/Mexico…
Cloud cover throughout the Gulf of Mexico, Mexico and Central America
precluded analysis of smoke in the region today.

THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF
SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED
FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE,
TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS.  AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE
ALSO DESCRIBED.  USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE
AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE
FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:
