DESCRIPTIVE TEXT NARRATIVE FOR SMOKE/DUST OBSERVED IN SATELLITE IMAGERY
THROUGH 1800Z July 01, 2024

SMOKE:
Alaska/Northern Canada...
Large wildfires through Alaska and Northern Canada continued producing
massive moderate to thick smoke plumes moving east and southeast through
central Alaska and northern Canada. A large area of light density smoke
extended from the Bering Sea and western edge of Alaska, east through
the majority of Canada and regions near the North Pole, to the Labrador
Sea and past the southeast coast of Greenland.

Central and Eastern United States...
A large area of light density remnant smoke attributed to a combination
of smoke from large wildfires throughout Alaska and northwestern Canada,
and seasonal fire activity throughout the Central United States was
seen covering eastern Oklahoma, southern Missouri, Arkansas, northern
Louisiana, Mississippi and southwestern Alabama.

THIS TEXT PRODUCT IS PRIMARILY INTENDED TO DESCRIBE SIGNIFICANT AREAS OF
SMOKE ASSOCIATED WITH ACTIVE FIRES AND SMOKE WHICH HAS BECOME DETACHED
FROM THE FIRES AND DRIFTED SOME DISTANCE AWAY FROM THE SOURCE FIRE,
TYPICALLY OVER THE COURSE OF ONE OR MORE DAYS.  AREAS OF BLOWING DUST ARE
ALSO DESCRIBED.  USERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO VIEW A GRAPHIC DEPICTION OF THESE
AND OTHER PLUMES WHICH ARE LESS EXTENSIVE AND STILL ATTACHED TO THE SOURCE
FIRE IN VARIOUS GRAPHIC FORMATS ON OUR WEB SITE:
